I spent seventeen years shipping product at Nokia, HERE Technologies, Mercedes-Benz.io, Volkswagen, Mondu and Hubject — most of it on infrastructure teams that had to answer to European regulators, works councils, and privacy officers before a single line of customer code went live.

Every side project I started outside of work ended the same way: reach for Firebase or Supabase or Vercel because they are genuinely fast to build on, then hit the wall the moment a real EU customer asked where the data actually sat. "US company, EU region" is not sovereignty. It is a legal fiction that holds up until the first subpoena, the first policy change, the first parent-company reorg.

Eurobase exists because I want European developers to have what American developers already have: a backend that is easy, fast, powerful, and stays out of your way — without having to trade away legal certainty to get it. Postgres, Auth, Storage, Realtime, Functions, Vault, an SDK, a console. Hosted in France, on European infrastructure, under European law. No CLOUD Act footprint, no "trust us" governance layer bolted on top of a US stack.

Independence is the point. If the next decade of European digital services is built on infrastructure that a foreign government can compel access to, we will spend the decade after that trying to unwind it. Better to start on ground we own.
